We are recruiting for a Team Lead to join the QC Microbiology & Biochemistry team based at our ARC facility, near Penicuik, EH26 0BF. The role is a full time (37.5 hours per week) permanent position with flexible working options.

This role entails providing leadership and line management across all Quality Control testing activities (including review, interpretation and approval of test results) and ensures that these are in accordance with operational objectives, statutory and regulatory requirements and the principles of GMP. 


The primary objectives of the role are to establish and maintain laboratory performance against key performance indicators for the business as well as ensuring that all Quotient final products meet the appropriate specifications and regulatory requirements for release to market, ensuring their safety and effectiveness. The job holder will act as a Subject Matter Expert for Products, Processes and their applications and requires a strong customer focus, routinely liaising with key staff from other departments. 


The main responsibilities will include:

  • Making decisions and solving complex problems through taking a wider view i.e. applying skills, learnings and experience to identify solutions meeting customer needs.
  • Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a support, production or operations team
  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion, coordinates work activities with other supervisors
  • Decisions and problem solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight, as needed, from manager.
  • Recognised expert in microbiology with depth and breadth of experience in Quotient’s processes, products and their application.
  • Acting as a coach to managed team members to deliver following outcome



  • Strong inter-personal skills evidenced by ability to collaborate to achieve business goals and communicate effectively within and outwith peer group.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification, plus relevant work experience.
  • Experience of leadership and team management desirable
  • Experience in Quality Control desirable
