Principal Scientist

We are recruiting for two Principlal Scientists to join our IH (Immunohematology) and SDS (Serological Disease Screening) assay development teams within our Research & Development department at our ARC site, based near Penicuik. These roles are full time, permanent positions working 37.5 hours per week with flexible working options.


These roles will provide critical expertise and scientific direction across all aspects of assay development for interdisciplinary research projects in relation to our MosaiQ® programme. The post holder will record, analyse and report on complex scientific data, disseminating the results and providing valid conclusions for the progression and completion of project work.

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION
 

  • Take ownership of custom and complex projects, troubleshooting technical issues to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
  • Analysis and interpretation of complex datasets along with project report writing to support regulatory approval of final products. Lead and troubleshoot complex issues regarding assay development and integration.
  • Responsible for scientific coaching and mentoring of project leads and for providing scientific direction across the business.
  • Ability to communicate and influence senior stakeholders with effective, targeted, communication.
  • Chair technical reviews and lead discussions with external stakeholders and collaborators.
  • Actively maintain an awareness of scientific and technical literature, and an up-to-date knowledge of best practice to ensure the development of innovative projects and products.
  • Conduct all duties in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Documentation Practice (GDP) and appropriate regulatory requirements.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • BSc in a relevant subject, with a PhD advantageous
  • Significant experience in a relevant scientific field with a track history of achievements, including products, assays and publications.
  • Assay development / protein microarray / protein purification experience desirable.
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
  • Experience of collaborating and communicating effectively across a wide range of international collaborators and cultures at all organisational levels.
  • Sufficient scientific autonomy to be comfortable in rapid adoption of new areas of expertise.
